Are you ready to put yourself first?

It’s easy to feel beaten down by the day-to-day of life. Climbing the corporate ladder, scaling a successful business, or raising tiny humans to be forces of nature in this world is taxing. Add to that the additional weight of navigating the world as a woman of color, and each day can feel downright exhausting.

I’ve been there, I know.

  • Maybe you're a bold, gutsy woman looking for that lost spark.
  • Maybe you feel like the big changes that life has thrown at you have thrown you for a loop. You’ve handled them with style and grace, naturally, but you come out on the other side feeling a little less like you.
  • Maybe you're looking to get away from your everyday so you can s-l-o-w it down and think.
  • Or maybe you’re just ready to add more adventures -- big and small -- to your life.

Here’s what I know:

Setting aside 4 days to escape your routine, play in the wild, push your body to new heights and rediscover what makes you come alive is just what you need to feel on fire again.

We all deserve to feel completely carefree -- to clear our minds of the clutter, to share belly laughs with friends, to take up space unapologetically. Let’s strip back down to the basics.

GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD AND ONTO THE TRAILS.

You’ll return home feeling reconnected to your core. You’ll return home with a new squad of soul sisters to continue on this journey with. You’ll return home feeling brave and self-assured with the knowledge that you too can do hard things.

Get ready to...

Color Outside

A 4-DAY ADVENTURE RETREAT FOR WOMEN OF COLOR

There’s something magical about connecting to nature -- breathing in the fresh air, listening to the wind rustle through the trees, feeling the blood pump through your legs as you hike, run, jump, soar. There’s something magical about getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where time slows down and things seem more simple. Where even the smallest exploration can feel like an huge adventure.

And yet, for some reason, you may have been told that the outdoors is not for you. That women of color don’t ‘do’ the outdoors.

There's something powerful about occupying space that's been told doesn't belong to you. You deserve to connect with the elements and pull power up & out of the earth to recharge and reignite our passion and purpose.

LET'S TAKE UP ALL THE SPACE.

MEET YOUR HOST:

Hello! I'm Nailah Blades Wylie. I'm a communicator, a clarity maker, and -- most importantly -- a convener of community. I started Color Outside as a safe place for women of color to come together and explore the outdoors. After experiencing a number of big life transitions and on the heels of a move from San Diego, CA to Salt Lake City, UT, I felt unmoored. I felt like I had lost myself. I used to grab life by the horns. Jump in feet first. Say yes more than I said no. But somewhere along the way life started to drag me down. My business grew. I had a baby. Responsibilities loomed in front of me. I started making "prudent" choices. Sensible choices that ignored the fire burning inside of me.

Getting out into the wild and exploring my new home gave me clarity when I was feeling fuzzy and started giving me glimpses of my old self. Standing in wide open fields has been essential in helping me stay connected with who I am at my core and to reaffirm that I can do hard things. Building a community of other women of color looking to do the same thing, while also showing up in a space that is not traditionally "for us" has been powerful and I cannot wait to continue spreading the mission of Color Outside.

Color Outside is here to help normalize the idea that women of all shades, shapes, sizes, and backgrounds are out there, enjoying all that nature has to offer us. Can I get an Amen?
