Does this sound familiar? You’re working hard. You work hard for your business, you’re constantly going above and beyond for your family, you’re there for your friends. You’re putting in work in all aspects of your life.
Except, you’re still putting yourself dead last ever. single. time. You’re pretty good at balancing all of your day-to-day responsibilities but you’re starting to feel the strain of it all.
It’s easy to feel beaten down by the day-to-day of life. Climbing the corporate ladder, scaling a successful business, or raising tiny humans to be forces of nature in this world is taxing. Add to that the additional weight of navigating the world as a woman of color, and each day can feel downright exhausting.
I’ve been there, I know.
Here’s what I know:
Setting aside the time to escape your routine, play in the wild, push your body to new heights and rediscover what makes you come alive is just what you need to feel on fire again.
We all deserve to feel completely carefree — to clear our minds of the clutter, to share belly laughs with friends, to take up space unapologetically. Let’s strip back down to the basics.
You’ll return home feeling reconnected to your core. You’ll return home with a new squad of soul sisters to continue on this journey with. You’ll return home feeling brave and self-assured with the knowledge that you too can do hard things.
Get ready to...
There’s something magical about connecting to nature — breathing in the fresh air, listening to the wind rustle through the trees, feeling the blood pump through your legs as you hike, run, jump, soar. There’s something magical about getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where time slows down and things seem more simple. Where even the smallest exploration can feel like an huge adventure.
And yet, for some reason, you may have been told that the outdoors is not for you. That women of color don’t ‘do’ the outdoors.
There's something powerful about occupying space that's been told doesn't belong to you. You deserve to connect with the elements and pull power up & out of the earth to recharge and reignite our passion and purpose.
In short, because you deserve it. You don’t have to keep sitting on the sidelines, watching everyone else live amazing lives. All too often we put our own well-being, passions & desires to the side, telling ourselves that we'll get to them later when we have more time, energy, money... you know the drill. But when you look back on the last 12 months of your life, what would you rather see? A joy-filled, adventurous life or day after day of "that would be nice, but..."
You'll leave this retreat feeling more connected with the woman you were meant to be. You'll feel a renewed sense of power, boldness, and courage. You'll leave with that priceless knowledge that you can accomplish all the things you set out to do — you too can do hard things. And you'll leave feeling relaxed, recharged and ready to begin living a full life that is consistently connected to your bliss.
Damn. I have goosebumps just thinking about it.
Plus, 3 days is just enough time to refresh, reboot and forget about your to-do list without the guilt around stepping away for yourself starting to creep in. Trust me, with a family of my own, I know that constant pull between wanting to get away but also missing your family terribly while you're gone.
Thursday night will kick off with our Welcome Party out on the wrap around deck by the fire pit. We'll introduce ourselves and set our intentions for the weekend. Then eat yummy appetizers and sip on some fun cocktails.

Your investment for your all-inclusive getaway is $999. All lodging, activities, meals, photo shoots and workshops are included in the price.

Because the retreat is small and preparations are made in advance, cancellations cannot be refunded or partially refunded.
I think that the word adventurous and outdoorsy vary for everyone. For some, adventurous might mean jumping out of an airplane, for others it might mean getting out on the hiking trail. For our purposes, adventurous means wanting to push yourself a little harder than you have before and being open to new experiences. If that sounds like you, then we’ll see you in UT.
All activity levels are welcome, as long as you’re willing to approach all of our activities with an open mind and a willingness to try. Being "in shape" means something different to everyone. You know your body best. This is NOT a competitive retreat. Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace. We’ll all get there eventually.
Nope. Not unless you want to (do you, girl). Each attendee will have their own bed. You may have to share a room though.
You’ll fly into Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC). I ask that everyone arrives on Thursday evening and flies out Saturday after 3pm.
When you register for the retreat, you'll receive a full packing list of everything you should bring. We'll provide any gear that we'll need as a group and the home comes equipped with cooking items, linens and towels. You'll bring along comfortable clothes and shoes, your toiletries and anything else you need to make you feel at home for the 3 days.
The house is located in beautiful Park City, 30 miles outside of Salt Lake City. The exact address to the house will be given to you prior to the retreat.
You can grab a taxi or a Lyft to the house. It’s about a 45 minute drive from the Salt Lake City airport.
Girrrrrrl. I saw that too. Don’t worry, no sunken places here. Just good ‘ol fashioned fun in an amazing location. Part of Color Outside’s mission is to help normalize women of color’s presence in the outdoor space. We’re here to take up space so that it’s not so weird to see us out and about on the trails.
Yes, yes. A thousand times, yes.
I'm Nailah Blades Wylie, your adventure consultant! I started Color Outside as a safe place for women of color to come together and embrace their power through outdoor adventures.

I 100% understand the frustration of feeling like you're spinning your wheels. I know how it is to feel completely disconnected from who you are at your core — to feel listless, bored and stuck. But I've also seen firsthand the power of finding community, adventure, and targeted value-filled education to help you create a purpose-filled and joyful life. If you're ready for a more colorful and carefree life, I'm ready to help you make it happen.
