Often, when I talk to women about living more joyfully and infusing more adventure and color into their lives, I’ll eventually come across the same objection:
‘𝘠𝘦𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘴𝘯’𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘢 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦…𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧𝘪𝘴𝘩?’
My response, ‘There’s nothing selfless about 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭.’
You put your needs after the kids, your spouse, and work. You focus on your wants after the errands and your job is done, and oh, no one took out the trash last night, I’ll get right on that; then that thing leads to another thing and another. Subsequently, your passion projects get pushed back into those tiny late-night moments after everyone has gone to sleep.
So yeah, you deserve to be “selfish.” You deserve to make time in your daily schedule for your wants, needs, and desires. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐣𝐨𝐲𝐟𝐮𝐥.
