Remember last year, around this time, everyone was lamenting on how terrible 2016 was and how they were just waiting for a fresh, new year to start? Hopefully, we thought, 2017 wouldn’t be so keen on killing off all of our childhood idols and would chill on the toxicity we saw playing out in politics and the media (spoiler: 2017 was not chill in this regard).
I love that the new year brings fresh hope and new possibilities. Sometimes it’s great to feel like you’re wiping the slate clean and starting anew. But just hoping that the next year will be better very rarely makes it so. I noticed this pattern with myself. Every year around October, I would get seriously burnt out. By November, I’d find myself counting down the days until the holidays so that I can get a little break and start fresh in the new year. Every year, I’d promise myself that next year would be better. I’d be less stressed, I’d only take on clients I was passionate about, I’d laugh more, I’d spend more time with my family, I’d be more present, I’d feel more carefree.
Every. Damn. Year.
And guess what? It didn’t happen. Sure, maybe I felt refreshed in January and February but I would soon get sucked back into the habits and patterns that weren’t serving me. Nothing was changing because I wasn’t taking the action to make the change. I was squeezing my eyes shut and hoping that things would get better.
It wasn’t until I finally started taking a long hard look at the things I was unsatisfied with and creating a plan to change them, that things changed. I got crystal clear on what I wanted my life to look like, I surrounded myself with people who supported my vision, and I got to work on making it happen.
I don’t want you to spend another year wishing that things were different.
I created a new signature program for Color Outside — the Colorful & Carefree Collective. This is a mastermind community for ambitious, driven women of color who are ready to hop off the cycle of overwhelm and burn-out and start living an adventurous life that is consistently connected to their bliss. Finding community, adventure, and targeted value-filled education has been my secret weapon in creating a purpose-filled and joyful life, and I’ll share everything I know PLUS everyone I’ve learned with the incredible group of women in the collective.
If you’re ready to make 2018 the year that you start taking bold changes towards the life you’ve been dreaming of, the Colorful & Carefree Collective is for you. Apply today!
PS – Don’t let another year go by without being the woman you want to be, feeling the way you want to feel, and doing what YOU want to do. Apply to join the Colorful & Carefree Collective.
