Feel those feelings

I talk a lot about joy, but I don’t want you to think that I think we should always be happy. That couldn’t be further from the truth.⁣⁣⁣

There is power in feeling your feelings — 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬.⁣⁣⁣

Like all biological processes, the stress response cycle has a beginning, middle, and end. Too often, our sympathetic nervous systems get stuck in the ‘On’ position.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
You can’t out-logic the illogical thoughts in your head. Even if you know you’re safe and secure, if your brain is telling you to be scared, you’re going to feel scared.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
It makes sense to feel scared or overwhelmed or angry or weepy or panicked right now. 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠.⁣⁣⁣
⁣⁣⁣
There will be lots of time to think later. Right now, you need to feel those feelings.⁣⁣⁣
