I talk a lot about joy, but I don’t want you to think that I think we should always be happy. That couldn’t be further from the truth.
There is power in feeling your feelings — 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬.
Like all biological processes, the stress response cycle has a beginning, middle, and end. Too often, our sympathetic nervous systems get stuck in the ‘On’ position.
You can’t out-logic the illogical thoughts in your head. Even if you know you’re safe and secure, if your brain is telling you to be scared, you’re going to feel scared.
It makes sense to feel scared or overwhelmed or angry or weepy or panicked right now. 𝐘𝐨𝐮’𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠.
There will be lots of time to think later. Right now, you need to feel those feelings.
