Permission

“We can only be what we give ourselves the power to be.”
– Native American Proverb

I’m sure you’ve heard or maybe even experienced that if you don’t take care of yourself, your body will force you to. Have you ever run yourself into the ground? Been so burnt out that you end up sick?

I feel like that’s what’s happening to us right now. We’re being forced to slow down, to spend time with ourselves, focusing on what matters most.

We’re being forced to look at ourselves.

The way I see it, some lovely things can come from such uncertain times, if we are willing to leverage this opportunity.

I say this knowing that you have valid fears and worries, right now— I’m not dismissing those.

But, I do want to bring to your attention, that one way to get your mind off those ‘what-ifs’ is to give yourself permission to do the things that you’ve been putting off.

Both big and small.

We all have at least one thing that we wished we had the time, energy, or space to execute.

Maybe it’s as simple as going on a daily walk.
Or learning a new recipe or language.
Perhaps you have a reading list pages long, but no time to actually read.

While we’ve been mandated to slow down and spend some time with ourselves, this is the perfect opportunity to give yourself permission to indulge in a new adventure— one of your own choosing.

My hope for you is that allowing yourself to do something important for yourself is the catalyst to more things that bring you unapologetic joy and soul-stirring adventure.

AFFIRMATION OF THE WEEK:
I give myself permission to slow down and
focus on what brings me joy.

P.S. I want to know what you project or adventure you’re taking on during this time of social distancing! Maybe you’re not taking anything on, that’s cool too. Comment or hop on over to the Color Outside FB Group and share!
